Matt is a family law lawyer who also practices civil litigation. They have represented clients at trial at BC Provincial Court, have represented clients at BC Supreme Court, and have assisted clients through mediations and negotiations on matters including parenting, support, property division, and more. Prior to joining Basran Robin Allen & Desilets, they were an associate at another family law firm, articled at a criminal and civil litigation firm, and summered at a criminal defence firm.
Matt earned their Juris Doctor with a specialisation in Law & Social Justice from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, at which they volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program. During their first degree, a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Systems at UBC, they co-authored a study on autonomic nervous system responses.
In assisting clients with their legal issues, Matt takes a thorough and creative approach to find solutions to problems, applying their experience and knowledge from other practice areas and fields of study to explore every opportunity for resolving matters without excessive conflict or expense.
Out of the office, Matt can be found skiing, taking photos, and having deep, enlightening conversations with their cat.
